Allium cepa
Family: Alliaceae
Also know as "Early Yellow Globe." An early American (1920s) winter storage variety developed from a gene pool of European onion introductions then known as the "Eastern Keepers." This natural long-day strain has become somewhat of a family heirloom over the last 3 decades. It traveled with me and family through all 3 day-length zones and has fully adapted to our middle day-length zone here in Colorado's Northern Front Range. It now surpasses or at least rivals some of the highest performing F1 hybrids in uniformity and early maturation. Recent seed lot is from Pachamama farm here in Longmont Colorado.
